A native of Newport News, VA, Dr. Clarissa Dudley graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, with multiple degrees, including a bachelor in Political Science and African Studies, and a Doctorate of Medicine. In her four years, Dr. Dudley competed on the women’s track and field team, where she was named a two-time NCAA All American and Big East Champion.
She trained in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University (International Health track).
Dr. Dudley has worked previously in Vietnam, the Philippines, and in Kenya, and as the Clinical Director of Outpatient Pediatrics at the Virginia Hospital Center/Georgetown University.
Dr. Dudley served as a Pediatric AIDS Corps physician in Lesotho from August, 2006 through June, 2007, where for almost a year she provided direct care and treatment to pediatric HIV patients, trained health care professionals, and assisted in scaling up rural health projects for Maternal Child Health/Nutrition and pediatric HIV. She is intimately familiar with the practical, on the ground obstacles that exist when attempting to strengthen the delivery of health services and has been able to use the powerful combination of public health and clinical medicine to evaluate populations and programs without losing perspective on how individuals are affected by disease.
In 2012, Dr. Dudley completed certification from George Washington University in the Master Teacher Leadership Development Program she went on to become the Associate Pediatric Clerkship director for medical education at Children’s National Health System in 2015.
She recently transitioned from The Children’s National Medical Center in the Goldberg division of Community Health after 13 years of clinical care. She enjoyed her time there, advancing the educational experience for students as well as faculty, developing the future providers of holistic community healthcare. She is now focusing on delivering the highest quality of care to patients and families in the DMV area.
